Oklahoma! is a landmark 1943 musical by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II, based on the play Green Grow the Lilacs, that revolutionized musical theater by seamlessly integrating song, dance, and plot into a cohesive “musical play”. Set in 1906 Oklahoma Territory, it tells the love story of cowboy Curly McLain and farm girl Laurey Williams, complicated by the sinister farmhand Jud Fry, against the backdrop of the territory’s path to statehood. The show launched the “Golden Age of Broadway,” won a special Pulitzer Prize, and its title song became the official state song of Oklahoma in 1953.

Audition & Production Info

Performers ages 8-20 (and select 8-9 year olds) are invited to come and audition for our Summer production of Oklahoma!

Audition Dates, Location, & Fee

Auditions will be held May 8, 2026. Callbacks will be held May 9th from 8:30am-12pm (by invitation only). Both auditions and callbacks will be held at the Spotlight Studio – 17451 Bastanchury Rd, Suite 102D. The show production fee is $525 and includes professional instruction, costumes, performance rights, materials, sets, props, theater rental and a show t-shirt.

Audition Registration and Requirements
  • REGISTRATION: Use the form below to pre-register for auditions and choose an audition appointment.
  • HEADSHOT & RESUME: Please bring a resume and headshot or current snapshot to your audition.
  • SONG: Please prepare 1 minute of a song of your choosing that best showcases your voice and bring an accompaniment track.
  • DANCE: All auditioners will be required to dance so please wear the appropriate clothing and shoes.
Rehearsals & Performances

Rehearsals: Oklahoma! rehearsals will begin mid May and will be Mon-Wed 4:30-8:30pm with occasional Saturday rehearsal. Rehearsals will be held at Yorba Linda Spotlight Theater Co. Please list all conflicts with those days in mind. All performers will not be called to every rehearsal.

Performances: Oklahoma! will tech and perform July 26th-August 2nd at the Placentia Yorba Linda Performing Arts Center. *must be available for all shows*

Conflicts

Conflicts with all rehearsals need to be approved before casting. Any conflicts during tech week and shows will not be accepted.
