From growing up singing in her church choir, to chorus from elementary through high school, to countless hometown musical theatre productions, Katie can’t imagine her life without music and theatre. She attended California State University, Chico, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Musical Theatre with Honors in General Education, while performing in multiple shows a year. After graduating, she worked as Stage Manager and Executive Assistant for the North State Symphony (Chico/Redding, CA) before moving to Southern California to work at the Disneyland Resort, where she worked for over nine years. During her time at Disney, Katie worked in a variety of roles. Some of her favorites include Production Coordinator for Disney Performing Arts and Facilitator for the Disney Youth Education Series, where she taught programs about music, leadership, and California history. One of her favorite experiences was when she came full circle and both directed and musical directed for the Stagecoach children’s program at Theatre on the Ridge, the theatre where she grew up, in Paradise, California. Having that full circle moment was very special for her, and why she is so excited to work with the students of Yorba Linda Spotlight helping them learn and grow as young artists. Katie’s life was changed by theatre and music at a young age and it is a passion of hers to continue that legacy.
