Auditions will be held January 9, 2025 from 5-9pm. Callbacks will be held January 11th from 10am-2pm. Both auditions and callbacks will be held at the Spotlight Studio – 17451 Bastanchury Rd, Suite 102D. The show production fee is $475 and includes professional instruction, costumes, performance rights, materials, sets, props, theater rental and a show t-shirt.

• REGISTRATION: Use the form below to pre-register for auditions and choose an audition appointment.
• HEADSHOT & RESUME: Please bring a resume and headshot or current snapshot to your audition.
• SONG: Please prepare 1 minute of a song of your choosing that best showcases your voice and bring an accompaniment track.
• DANCE: All auditioners will be required to dance so please wear the appropriate clothing and shoes.

Rehearsals: Seussical will rehearse Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5:30-8:30pm as well as some Saturdays in the late morning/afternoon. Please list all conflicts with those days in mind. All performers will not be called to every rehearsal. Rehearsals will begin on January 14th

Performances: Seussical will tech and perform April 7th-13th, 2025 at the Virginia Deland Theater at the Yorba Linda Cultural Arts Center. Conflicts during tech week and shows will not be accepted.

It is so easy to want the best of everything for your child. All too often, however, it is possible to involve children in more activities than they can adequately commit to. Families should take a serious look at the level of commitment required by participation in a Yorba Linda Spotlight Theatre production and weigh it against the possible demands of extracurricular activities, family vacations, and schoolwork.

It is very difficult to produce a quality show when directors do not have consistency in rehearsals. The staff often does not have time to re-teach blocking and dances that cast members have missed. Part of Spotlight’s commitment to you is to provide a professional learning experience and this is difficult to accomplish if attendance is poor. Every cast member is important and there is a hole when they are missing that affects the learning experience for fellow cast members. This is why we require all participants to sign an “Actor’s Contract” outlining the responsibilities that go with accepting a part.

Please read our conflict policy and look at the dates we have posted in order to make a well-informed decision before participating in one of our productions and check your child’s schedule carefully before committing them to this show.

What Yorba Linda Spotlight Asks:

• Conflicts must be submitted at the auditions. All conflicts must be handed in by the final callback to be considered “excused.”

• Excused Absences:  The conflicts that are listed on a performers audition sheet will be evaluated by our production team and are taken into consideration during the casting process.  Once “excused” by the team, performers are cleared to miss those rehearsals and those rehearsals only.

• Unexcused Absences: After casting has been finalized, additional conflicts or new conflicts are considered unexcused absences, and may lead to being dropped from the show. If a performer has more than 3 unexcused absences, Yorba Linda Spotlight reserves the right to remove the performer from the show without a refund.  Extreme circumstances (family emergencies, extended illness, etc) will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

Participants will not be cast if they have conflicts during tech week or performances.

We reserve the right to not cast a participant if that person has an excessive number of conflicts or has demonstrated poor discipline in their most recent participation.
